First Sacrament of Initiation – Baptism (Week 5)

We have been learning about the three Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.  It is important for you to know about your special day where you became a member of God’s family.

Ask your family the questions below to find out more about your Baptism.

1)        When was I Baptised?
2)        Where was I Baptised?
3)        Do I have God Parents? Who are they?
4)        What did I wear when I was Baptised?
5)        Was my outfit specially chosen for me? Was it passed down?
6)        What happened on the day?
7)        Did my God Parents or parents receive a special candle or certificate from the church?
8)        Do your parents remember seeing any of the symbols used in Baptism? What were they?

If you have not been Baptised or are not Catholic, you can still complete this week’s homework by writing 2 or 3 paragraphs about a special religious or cultural celebration in your family.

  7. Hello 4H,

Since I am not Catholic and I have no religion.

I am writing about Chinese New Year and how my family celebrates it. The first thing we do is go to the Chinese New year festival near the City and we watch the Dragons which are not real of course and sometimes when we meet our Aunties or Uncles there we give red envelopes which has money in it. Then when we go home at night and open it.

The other way we celebrate Chinese New Year is by going to our My Grandma’s house to come together again with our Aunties and Uncles have dinner and give the RED envelopes that has money in it enjoy the party and we always buy a whole pig to eat wit our relatives and enjoy the party. When the fun was over we go home and open our Red envelopes with money.

I am looking forward to the next Chinese New Year!

    From Thomas C

    • Hi Thomas,

Thank you for sharing a Chinese cultural experience with us all. Chinese New Year sounds like lots of fun and with a banquet like the one you have described, it sounds as though you won’t go hungry!

      Mrs Ponzo

  9. Hi Mrs Ponzo and 4H

    Since I’m not catholic

If someone dies that is related to use or we know we are not aloud to eat non-vegetarian and we are not aloud to go to the temple.

We are not even aloud to wear new clothes or go to a party ,no praying aloud. We have to do these things for elven or ten days.

I don’t want any one to die because, we have to leave these things for a week ,I don’t want that to happen.

    Regards Maithili 🙂

    • Hi Maithili,

Thank you for sharing your cultural experiences. It is very sad when people that we love pass away. I guess it is all part of life, and we have to believe that they are in a better place.
